Meet Taylor Masamitsu [ma•sa•mi•tsu].

Taylor is a Japanese-American voice teacher who is hailed for his pedagogy, innovation, and collaboration.

Taylor began teaching in the eleventh grade as an assistant choreographer for a local middle school show choir, and he immediately knew he would become a lifelong arts educator. Taylor’s since gone to college, conservatory, and graduate school—twice—all inspired by his love of music, learning, and teaching. Throughout more than ten years, Taylor has worked with leading nonprofits and organizations to provide an outstanding education to students of all abilities, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, spanning three continents. In addition to TMVS, Taylor proudly teaches at the Eleonor England Voice Studio. Previously, he taught on the faculties at Columbia University, The School of The New York Times, CalArts Community Arts Partnership, and the Broadway Training Center of Westchester.

Additionally, Taylor is a multi-hyphenate performer. His recent performances have focused mainly on operatic and musical theatre works, many of which were written specifically for his "commanding, vibrant voice" (Vladimir Chernov, The Metropolitan Opera). However, Taylor is also an accomplished actor and voice-over artist with more than 20 years' experience working for Disney, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers, Sony, and Universal Studios.

In summer 2020, Taylor co-founded Creating for Justice, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fighting systemic oppression of BIPOC folx and other marginalized communities. To learn more, please visit creatingforjustice.org!

The son of Robert "Chip" Masamitsu (Editor, Dances With Wolves) and Andrea Pugliese (three-time Emmy winner, six-time nominee), Taylor was fortunate to have been inspired and raised by incredible artists in their Los Angeles home.
